Change Starts Together framework
5 principles to support businesses to take an intersectional approach in addressing social mobility:
- We will actively open our doors to social mobility talent
- We will be innovative and creative in our approach to social mobility
- We will take an intersectional approach to provide opportunities to individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds
- We will collaborate with other organisations to increase impact and reach
- We will act as advocates for social mobility internally and externally
10 key actions:
- Appoint an executive sponsor for social mobility
- Create a strategy for social mobility
- Ensure all social mobility efforts take an intersectional approach
- Capture and analyse social mobility data (existing employees & new joiners)
- Support one or more social mobility programmes
- Develop or support one or more social mobility mentoring/skills development programme
- Provide social mobility resources for recruitment, line managers, leaders, etc.
- Evaluate barriers to entry such as educational attainment and seek to mitigate
- Commit to sharing social mobility stories internally
- Collaborate with other organisations to increase impact and share best practice
